Keep the high score, not the bill

Browser strategy games run in the background of a week, which is part of their charm. These notes apply to every game on this site.

Devices

Keep your browser up to date; an old version is the usual reason a map won't load. Strategy maps need room, so turn a tablet sideways and prefer a laptop over a phone.

Your game account

• Type account details only on the game's own website, after checking the domain.
• Use a different secret phrase for every game.
• Ignore chat messages offering free premium currency for your account. Real game staff never ask for it.
• Turn on two-factor protection where a game offers it.

Spending

All three games have an optional shop. Choose a monthly amount in dollars before the first purchase and keep to it. On shared or kids' devices, switch on purchase approval in the device settings.

Time

Turn off the game's notifications. Decide when the session ends before it begins. If a game starts showing up during work or late at night, take a week off; a week-long match will still have a seat for you next time.

Age

Each game sets its own minimum age in its terms. Read it on the game's site before a younger player creates an account.
